Prosperity Is Not A Bad Word
I Keep My Hands Open, Both To Receive and To Release
I shun the prosperity gospel that’s been tainted by the hand of man. Yet I embrace the prosperity God desires for his people to have. Because how can I bless others if I myself am not blessed? With an intertwining of both natural and spiritual blessings?
And the promised land God ordained for His children to enter into in Deuteronomy 8 was but a foreshadowing of what the Lord has for His people today, if we are willing to abide by the conditions set to receive it. (And that was under a different covenant; we live under a far superior one today.)
And before the promise comes the trial and the testing and the training, but none of these negate the promise. And the promise of the Lord includes the blessing of the Lord, and the blessing of the Lord has no accompanying sorrow attached to it. (Proverbs 10:22)
For there is a kingdom way to create wealth and then there is man’s way. Money is neither good nor evil, it is simply a tool. And poverty does not equal holiness, neither does it equal humility.
And what establishes and expands the kingdom of God here on Earth? All of the resources needed to bring blessings to the people both inside and outside the kingdom of God are obtained through the “tool” of money.
Prosperity is more than money (and the kingdom of God is all about provision, not money) but money is a key component in today’s society. Therefore, if I have to choose between poverty and riches, I am going to choose riches. (I will differ from Agur, who penned in Proverbs 30:8, “Give me neither poverty nor riches”)
And if it needs to be said and likely it does, I am not chasing after money, but I am chasing after the kingdom of God.
“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the power to get (create) wealth, that He may establish his covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.” Deuteronomy. 8:18
Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I am the Lord your God who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go. Isaiah 48:17
The young lions lack and suffer hunger, but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing. Psalm 34:10
I pray this has given you pause for thought, whether you agree or not. and may the Lord bless and establish the work of your hands (Psalms 90:17) and may the blessing of the Lord be fully established in your life.
