You Might Be Strange, You Might Be Peculiar, But You Are Not Weird!
You Were Not Wired To Be Weird
There’s a reason the Bible doesn’t use the word “weird” to describe us, but rather uses the word “peculiar.” The word “weird” is of occultic origin.
I say this as one who came out of the occult and one who inwardly winces when I hear believers says “I’m weird” and as one who looked up the word in Websters 1828 app (the original Websters dictionary) and here’s what I wasn’t surprised to find:
WEIRD, a. Skilled in witchcraft. (not in use)
And I believe this definition has been shortened from when I first looked it up in 2022/2023.
You might think I’m straining at a gnat or being overly sensitive. I would say I’m highly attuned to the power of words. Every word carries authority, even spiritual authority. Every word brings consequence.
And it’s my desire that our words are not weaponized against us. I say “our” because we are one body. May our words bless us and not hinder us. We get to choose. Much love.
And if you’ve read this far, Noah Webster was a strong believer and the dictionary he produced was his life’s work. He wanted American to have it’s own dictionary, not the dictionary of England. He uses biblical principles and Scripture verses to aid in his definitions. I highly recommend this free app. It’s especially helpful if you read the classics with some of the older words. Blessings.
Facets of Your Identity:
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; - 1 Peter 2:9
And has made us kings and priests to His God and Father; to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. -Revelation 1:6 (repeated in Revelation 5:10)

Super interesting. English is my second language, so I was not aware of the original meaning of the word weird. Definitely agree with what you said about the importance and power of words, so thanks for sharing this insight and the reminder to be careful with the words we speak over ourselves and others.
